There are so many great Cloud Based/Software As A Service (SAAS) applications  out there that we use every day. Here are just a handful that we leverage here at Durkan Group:

  • DropBox for sharing files
  • Enom to easily manage name servers and domain registration
  • Shutterstock for stock photography
  • MOZ for hardcore SEO
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) for SES and CDN
  • Google for Analytics, Adwords, Webmaster Tools, Plus and more
  • BrowserStack allows us to easily test our sites by emulating various browsers and operating systems

These are just a few of many. That’s the beauty of SAAS/cloud based apps. You can take advantage of great applications from anywhere. As a team of web professionals it also presents a challenge. Here are some of the comments I would often hear among the team:

  • Hey, what’s the username/password to access (insert SAAS App)?
  • Did someone change the password to (insert SAAS App)? I can’t get in!
  • Wow, we have a subscription to that?! I didn’t know that! I could have used that on a recent project!

With all of these services and associated usernames and passwords and a number of people on the team needing access, it can quickly become chaotic.  Meldium was mentioned by one of the team as a possible solution for us. I finally implemented it and only wish I did sooner! Meldium isn’t just password management, it’s ideal for letting your teams access cloud based services. Here are some of the features:

  • My team can sign into Meldium with their Google accounts which is ideal since we use Google for mail, calendar, apps, etc. No need for them to remember a Meldium login, plus Meldium automatically extends its secure two-factor authentication (2FA) to all apps when you sign in via Google.
  • The dashboard shows all apps any given team member can access. You can get pretty granular with distributing access by user, group, etc. When they click on the app it launches it and automatically logs them in without them having to enter username or password. This is great because my team members no longer have to keep track of this info and its more secure because we can centrally store and manage this info.
  • The auto login works for over 900 popular web apps and they are rolling out more every day. Even if the app isn’t supported with the auto login you can still add it as a custom app. This means that when the user launches it they are brought to a screen where they can click a button to copy the password (without knowing actual password) and continue on to the app.
  • Meldium offers extensions for Chrome & Firefox.

Meldium is great for giving my team one spot to access all of our cloud based apps without having to remember usernames and passwords. I can easily grant and remove access as needed with my team members. It’s also great for keeping us all on the same page with regards to resources we have available. Are all of your cloud based subscription apps causing chaos among your team? I highly recommend Meldium!
