Optimizing the Checkout Process
We are always looking for ways to improve our partners’ websites. And, when it comes to Magento eCommerce we want to make it as simple as possible for customers to place orders and check out when they’re ready.
Naturally, product information needs to be well presented, and not overwhelming and, the user needs to be able to easily access all information to make a well-informed decision to add a product to the cart. Once the cart is loaded and they are ready to purchase, we need to make it as easy as possible for them to do so.
The Solution is One-Page Checkout
One-page checkout is what we want. This takes some work in Magento, an open source eCommerce platform we use for high-end retailers; and while we were able to achieve this doing some custom-coding, we wanted to invest in a solution that could be rapidly deployed to other sites while taking the typical concerns around design compatibility out of the equation.
Clinton then pinged me with a link to a Magento checkout extension called Awesome Checkout.
I started playing with the demo and was immediately impressed with its simplicity as it turns the checkout into a very simple page and process. I loved the way that when entering my credit card info it highlighted the appropriate card type I was using and dimmed out the other card icons – yes, it’s the little things that matter. Zip code lookup and clean validation were other nice features I noticed immediately.
“This is awesome!”, I pinged Clinton, to which he replied “That’s why they call it Awesome Checkout.”.
We then implemented it on platypushome.com and then 2 other eCommerce sites. All of which have seen an increase in Cart Conversion Rate since implementation and, it has greatly simplified the ordering process for their users.
As Awesome Checkout says “Mo’ Money. Less Problems”.
